Using CDs in Room Decor

Compact discs (CDs) are used to store data such as documents, music, graphics, videos, and computer software. But do you know that they could also be utilised as decor items for home improvement projects? Believe it or not, CDs that are no longer used can be made into stunning contemporary decorations. Here are just some of the few ideas on how you can use them to decorate a room.

A great idea is to use them as curtains, especially if you have lots of them. Get a long piece of transparent nylon string, and tie a CD at its centre hold at one end. Tie another CD an inch or two away from the previous one. Continue until you have a line of them on the string. Repeat the process on ten or more strings. The next step is to place tacks, spaced a few inches from each other, on top of a window frame. Tie one CD-lined string on each tack. When this is done, you will see a cool curtain of CDs swaying gently with the breeze

Another idea is to use them as picture frames. Choose a few photos, and cut them in round shapes that are a little bit smaller than your CDs. Then use some super glue to fasten the pictures on either the shiny or printed side of the CDs. Buy a large piece of a sturdy plastic sheet, and cut right-angle triangles from it. Glue the plastic triangles on the sides of the CDs without the photos. These triangles will act as stands so you can place your CD picture frames on mantels and tabletops.
